In May 2024, I identified two water stains on a basement ceiling, indicating a possible leak. Over time, the stains expanded significantly, confirming the issue. After investigating, I determined the source to be a slow leak at the drainpipe joint beneath the kitchen sink.
To resolve the problem, I cut into the drywall ceiling, replaced the faulty drain, and repaired the affected area. The accumulated water had caused rust on the screws, resulting in visible stains on the drywall. After addressing the leak, I patched the ceiling and applied a popcorn texture ceiling paint to restore its appearance.
